Biography of  Leigh Bale

Leigh Bale lives in Nevada—amid the dry desert sagebrush and the lush beauty of the Sierra Nevada Mountains.  She met her husband when he had just started graduate school. Two weeks later, they were engaged to be married before he had even kissed her for the first time. They married shortly afterwards and, twenty-five years later, are still crazy about each other. Yep! They firmly believe in love at first sight.

Leigh and her husband are the proud parents of two wonderful children; a son and a daughter. Their daughter is a chef extraordinaire and their son is a U.S. Marine. He and his wife have provided one of Leigh’s favorite hobbies—a beautiful granddaughter.

Most of Leigh’s adult life, she’s worked as a bookkeeper and executive secretary. In the first year of her marriage, she wrote her first full-length novel on a typewriter, back when they still made carbon paper and 8-track tapes. She had no outline and no clue what she was doing. Since then, she has gone on to complete numerous other novels and was published in short fiction in 1994. She did the research and wrote an extensive article on the Golden Heart Contest, the most prestigious contest an unpublished romance novelist can enter. Titled The Golden Heart: Not for the Fainthearted, the article was published in RWA's Romance Writer's Report in June 2004. Leigh’s books have won and finaled in numerous national writing contests, including winning the Golden Heart Contest (2006) for best Inspirational, the Orange Rose (Orange Rose RWA 2003), the Finally A Bride (OKRW 2005), and the Duel on the Delta (River City RWA 2006).

In addition to writing full-time and playing with her granddaughter as often as possible, Leigh and her husband are busy in a multitude of church activities.  She still takes classes, pursuing her dream of one day holding a Master's degree in Medieval History.

Leigh loves hearing from readers.  You can contact her at P.O. Box 33772, Reno, NV  89533, or through her website at www.LeighBale.com.
